Claire has been an associate of the firm since her call to the British Columbia Bar in February 2018. Before joining Thomas & Associates, Claire completed articles at Taylor Law Group in Langley, British Columbia.
Claire is passionate about advocacy and brings considerable experience to the role of junior associate. Before Articling, Claire provided pro bono advocacy services through Access Pro Bono’s Mental Health Program, representing clients at Review Panel Tribunal Hearings. Claire also volunteered as a student advocate through UBC’s Law Students’ Legal Advice Program (LSLAP), and provided representation to clients in a wide range of practice areas. Throughout articles, Claire’s primary focus has been Family Law. She has appeared in the Supreme Court and Provincial Court of British Columbia, and has participated in a British Columbia Court of Appeal action. She has experience handling various family law issues, including child support, spousal support, parenting time, divorce, separation agreements, imputation of income, relocation, guardianship, and mediation. Claire’s philosophy is the client-centered approach, and she works endlessly to present the best sides of her case with a strategic edge, whether it is at mediation or in court.
Claire graduated from the University of Victoria is 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Applied Ethics. She obtained her law degree from Thompson Rivers University in 2016. As part of her law school experience, Claire participated in the 2015 ELG Environmental Law Negotiation Competition and was a 2nd place finalist in the 2016 TRU Law Human Rights & Environmental Law Negotiation Competition. Claire also played rugby with the TRU Lawggers Girls Rugby Team in the Western Canada Law Rugby Championship from 2013-2016.
Claire is on the board of directors for The InnovativeCommunitites.Org Foundation, is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Law Society of British Columbia, and Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.
